To repost on TikTok, tap the Share arrow on a video, then tap the yellow Repost button. The video appears in your followers’ feeds, labelled with your name, and in the Reposts tab on your profile, with the original creator credited. To undo it, tap Share again and choose Remove repost.

Reposting shares someone else’s video without downloading or re-uploading it. This guide covers every way to repost, who sees it, how to undo it, and how it differs from sharing or saving. Downloading videos is covered in how to download TikTok videos.

How Do You Repost a Video on TikTok?

You repost from the Share menu of any video that allows it. Listed below are the 3 steps.

  1. Open the video.
  2. Tap the Share arrow on the right.
  3. Tap Repost, the yellow button at the top of the share panel.

TikTok may then offer a field to add a short note to your repost. Depending on your app version, you can also press and hold the video and tap Repost, or press and hold the like button until the repost option appears.

Who Can See Your TikTok Reposts?

Your followers see your reposts in their feeds, and anyone who opens your profile can see the Reposts tab, marked with a two-arrows icon, on a public account. On a private account, only the followers you’ve approved see your reposts.

Account type Who sees your reposts
Public Your followers in their feeds, and anyone visiting your Reposts tab
Private Only approved followers

There’s no setting that hides the Reposts tab while keeping a public account; making the account private is the only way to limit it.

How Do You Undo a Repost on TikTok?

To undo a repost, open the video, tap Share and choose Remove repost. You can find the video quickly from the Reposts tab on your profile. Removing many reposts, or all of them, is covered in how to delete, undo or hide reposts on TikTok.

What’s the Difference Between Reposting, Sharing and Saving?

Reposting shows a video to your followers, sharing sends it to specific people or apps, and saving keeps it for you. The table compares them.

Action Who sees it Credit to creator
Repost Your followers and your Reposts tab Yes, the original stays the creator’s
Share The people or apps you send it to Yes, it’s a link to the original
Save to favorites Only you Yes
Download Only you, unless you post it again The watermark credits the creator
Re-upload Everyone, as your own post No; can break the creator’s rights

Re-uploading someone else’s video as your own isn’t reposting and can infringe the creator’s copyright. Saving to favorites is covered in how to find saved videos and manage collections on TikTok.

Why Can’t You Repost a TikTok?

The Repost button is missing when the video doesn’t allow it, the account is private, or your app version shows the feature differently. Update the app and check both the Share menu and the press-and-hold menu. Some videos, such as those from private accounts, can’t be reposted.

Can You Repost Your Own TikTok?

The Repost button is for other people’s videos; to resurface your own, pin it to your profile or share it. Re-uploading the same video can look like duplicate content.

Do reposts show on your profile grid?

No, they sit in the separate Reposts tab, not among your own videos.

In current versions you can add a short note after tapping Repost.
