To hide who you follow on TikTok, go to Profile, the menu, Settings and privacy, Privacy, then Following list, and choose Only me. TikTok has no matching setting for your followers list on a public account: the only way to hide your followers is to make your whole account private, so only people you approve can see it.

The two lists work differently, which is where most guides get it wrong. This guide covers both, what each setting changes, and how hidden lists look to other people and to tools. Other profile privacy settings are covered in TikTok profile views. Your liked videos have a separate switch, covered in how to see who liked or favorited your TikTok.

How Do You Hide Your Following List on TikTok?

You hide your following list from the Privacy section of the app’s settings. Listed below are the 5 steps.

  1. Tap Profile, then the menu (three lines).
  2. Tap Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Privacy.
  4. Tap Following list.
  5. Choose Only me.

The change applies straight away, and you can still see your own list. The setting is in the mobile app; it isn’t fully available on the website.

Who Can See Your Following List With Each Setting?

The Following list setting has 3 levels. The table shows who can see the list under each one.

Setting Who can see who you follow
Everyone Anyone who opens your profile
Friends Only mutual followers
Only me Only you

Can You Hide Your Followers List on TikTok?

Not on a public account: TikTok doesn’t offer a setting to hide your followers list while your account stays public. Making your account private hides both lists, along with your videos, from anyone you haven’t approved. To switch, go to Settings and privacy, then Privacy, and turn on Private account.

Goal Setting
Hide who you follow Following list: Only me
Hide who follows you Private account
Hide both lists and your videos Private account

What Happens to Your Follower Count When Lists Are Hidden?

Your follower and following counts stay visible on your profile even when the lists are hidden; only the names behind them are hidden. People can see how many accounts you follow but not which ones.

Can Tools See a Hidden Following List?

No, a list hidden in the app is hidden from scraping tools too, because they read the same public pages anyone can open. apidojo’s TikTok User Scraper can collect follower and following lists only where the account shows them publicly (Apify). What a public list exposes, and how researchers use it, is covered in how to scrape TikTok followers and following lists.
