## How Do You Quote a Tweet on the X App?

**You quote a tweet in the X app by tapping the Repost icon and choosing Quote instead of Repost.** Listed below are the 4 steps.

1.  **Tap** the **Repost** icon, the two arrows under the post.
2.  **Choose** **Quote**.
3.  **Write** your comment, and add media if you want.
4.  **Tap** **Post**.

## How Do You Quote a Tweet on x.com?

**On x.com, click the Repost icon under the post, select Quote, type your comment and click Post.** The quoted post appears as a card inside yours.

## What Is the Difference Between a Repost and a Quote?

**A repost shares a post unchanged with your followers, while a quote post adds your own comment on top.** X notes that typing “RT” at the start of a post is not an official feature; it only signals a manual quote ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/repost-faqs)).

## How Do You See Who Quoted a Tweet?

**Open the post’s detail page and select the Quote posts tab to see who quoted it; the Reposts tab shows who reposted it.** Your Notifications tab also lists recent quotes of your posts (X Help Center). Searching `quoted_tweet_id:` with the post’s ID finds quotes in search too ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)).

## Why Can’t You Quote Some Tweets?

**You can’t quote or repost posts from protected accounts, marked by a lock icon, because their author has chosen not to share them publicly.** If your own account is protected, you can still repost and quote, but only your approved followers see it (X Help Center).

## What Happens to a Quote When the Original Is Deleted?
