# How to Post a Tweet on X: Step by Step (2026)

## How Do You Post a Tweet on the X App?

**You post a tweet in the X app by tapping the compose icon, writing your message and tapping Post.** X documents the same steps for iOS and Android ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/how-to-post)). Listed below are the 4 steps.

1.  **Tap** the post compose icon, the plus button on your timeline.
2.  **Type** your message, up to 280 characters.
3.  **Add** media if you want: up to 4 items in total, such as 2 photos, 1 GIF and 1 video.
4.  **Tap** **Post**.

## How Do You Post a Tweet on x.com?

**On x.com, click Post in the left menu or type in the box at the top of your Home timeline, then click Post.** The keyboard shortcut `n` opens a new post, and `Cmd+Enter` on Mac or `Ctrl+Enter` on Windows sends it (X Help Center).

## What Can You Add to a Tweet?

## How Do You Post a Longer Tweet?

**X Premium subscribers write a longer post the same way as a normal one; when they pass 280 characters, the counter circle fills instead of tracking around its edge, and they can continue to 4,000 characters.** Free accounts can split long text into a thread by replying to their own post (X Help Center).

## How Do You Post a Reply or Quote?

## How Do You Delete a Tweet?

**You can delete only your own posts: open the post, select the three-dot menu and choose Delete.** You can’t delete other accounts’ posts, but you can unfollow, mute or block them (X Help Center). ## How Do You Feature One Tweet on Your Profile?
