**To search someone’s tweets for a keyword, type `from:username keyword` into the X search bar and open the Latest tab.** For example, `from:NASA "black hole"` returns NASA’s posts containing the phrase black hole. Add `since:` and `until:` when you remember roughly when they posted it.

This is the fastest way to find a specific tweet from someone. It builds on [how to search tweets from a specific user](/blog/twitter-search/search-tweets-from-user/).

## How Do You Search Someone’s Tweets for a Word?

**You search someone’s tweets for a word by pairing `from:` and their handle with the word, then choosing the Latest tab.** Listed below are the 4 steps.

1.  **Log in** to x.com or the X app ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/x-advanced-search)).
2.  **Type** `from:username` and the word: `from:NASA mars`.
3.  **Press** Enter.
4. **Open** **Latest** to see every match, newest first.

In the Advanced search form, enter the word under Words and the handle under **From these accounts**; X writes the same query (X Help Center).

## How Do You Find a Specific Tweet From Someone?

**To find a specific tweet from someone, search their handle with the most unusual word you remember, in quotes, inside a date window.** Rare words cut results faster than common ones, and quotes stop X from correcting the spelling ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)).

```
from:username "unusual word" since:2023-01-01 until:2024-01-01
```

If the post contained a link, a photo or a video, add the matching filter: `filter:links`, `filter:images` or `filter:videos`.

## Examples: Searching Someone’s Tweets for Keywords

**These examples cover the keyword searches people run on one account most often.** Replace the handle, words and dates.

| Goal | Query |
| --- | --- |
| One word | from:username word |
| An exact phrase | from:username "exact phrase" |
| Either of two words | from:username (word1 OR word2) |
| A word, without another | from:username word -otherword |
| A hashtag they used | from:username #hashtag |
| A word in their replies only | from:username word filter:replies |
| A word in their original posts only | from:username word -filter:replies |
| A word in a given year | from:username word since:2020-01-01 until:2021-01-01 |
| A word in their popular posts | from:username word min_faves:500 |

The operators in this table are explained in the [Twitter advanced search operators](/blog/twitter-search/advanced-search-operators/) reference, and the date combination in [how to search someone’s tweets by date](/blog/twitter-search/someones-tweets-by-date/).

## How Do You Search Someone’s Replies to Another Account?

**To search someone’s replies to another account for a keyword, combine `from:`, `to:` and the word.** `from:user1 to:user2 refund` returns user1’s replies to user2 that mention refunds. More reply searches are in [how to search Twitter replies](/blog/twitter-search/search-twitter-replies/).

## Why Doesn’t Keyword Search Find Someone’s Tweet?

**Keyword search misses someone’s tweet when the word you remember differs from the post, the account is protected or suspended, or the post was deleted.** Private and suspended accounts are not in the search index (twitter-advanced-search reference). Listed below are the 3 fixes.

1. **Search** a synonym with OR: `from:username (car OR vehicle)`.
2. **Drop** the keyword and search the account in a tight date window.
3. **Check** whether the account changed its handle.

The full troubleshooting list is in [why X search can’t find an old tweet](/blog/twitter-search/old-tweet-not-showing/).

## How to Search Many Accounts for a Keyword With apidojo

**X search runs one query at a time, so apidojo’s [Tweet Scraper V2](https://apify.com/apidojo/tweet-scraper) on Apify runs the same keyword across several accounts and saves every match to one file.** Each query goes in `searchTerms`, written as you would type it on X.

```
{
  "searchTerms": [
    "from:NASA \"black hole\"",
    "from:ESA \"black hole\"",
    "from:esa_webb \"black hole\""
  ],
  "sort": "Latest"
}
```

It costs $0.40 per 1,000 tweets. Queries that return fewer than 50 tweets run on [Twitter Scraper Unlimited](https://apify.com/apidojo/twitter-scraper-lite) instead (Apify). See the [apidojo Twitter Scraper](/scrapers/twitter-scraper/).

## The scrapers behind this

-   [Tweet Scraper V2 Tweets from searches, profiles, Lists and URLs; 49–64 tweets/sec; minimum 50 per query $0.40 / 1K tweets](/scrapers/twitter-scraper/)
- [Twitter Scraper Unlimited Single tweets, reply threads, X Articles and small queries; no minimum $0.016 / query + $0.40 / 1K](/scrapers/twitter-scraper-lite/)
