# How to Search Twitter Replies

To search Twitter replies, add filter:replies to any search on X; to see every reply in one thread, search conversation\_id: followed by the post's ID.

**To search Twitter replies, add `filter:replies` to any search on X; to see every reply in one thread, search `conversation_id:` followed by the post’s ID.** For example, `from:NASA filter:replies` returns only NASA’s replies, and `to:NASA` returns replies sent to NASA.

Replies have their own operators in the [Twitter advanced search operators](/blog/twitter-search/advanced-search-operators/) reference. This guide shows how to find replies by thread, by author and by recipient, and how to list a thread’s replies in time order.

## Twitter Reply Search Operators

**Twitter reply operators find replies by who wrote them, who they answer, and which conversation they belong to.** Listed below are the 5 reply operators ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)).

| Operator | Finds | Example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| filter:replies | Posts that are replies | ai agents filter:replies |
| -filter:replies | Posts that are not replies | from:NASA -filter:replies |
| to:username | Replies addressed to an account | to:NASA |
| conversation_id:ID | Every post in one thread, all reply levels | conversation_id:1140437409710116865 |
| filter:self_threads | An author’s replies to their own posts | from:NASA filter:self_threads |

## How Do You Find All Replies to a Tweet?

**To find all replies to a tweet, copy the number at the end of the post’s URL and search `conversation_id:` followed by that number.** Listed below are the 4 steps.

1. **Open** the post and copy its URL, for example `x.com/NASA/status/1140437409710116865`.
2. **Copy** the final number; that is the post ID.
3.  **Search** `conversation_id:1140437409710116865`.
4. **Open** **Latest** to list the replies newest first.

A conversation ID matches every reply in the thread, including replies to replies. Add a keyword to find one reply: `conversation_id:1140437409710116865 refund`. Finding a post from its ID is covered in [how to view a tweet by ID on X](/blog/x-guides/view-tweet-by-id/).

## How Do You Find Replies Sent to a User?

**To find replies sent to a user, search `to:username`.** `to:NASA moon` returns replies to NASA that mention the Moon. The full method is in [how to find replies sent to a user on X](/blog/twitter-search/replies-to-user/).

## How Do You Find Replies Written by a Specific User?

**To find replies written by a specific user, combine `from:username` with `filter:replies`.** `from:NASA filter:replies -to:NASA` removes NASA’s replies in its own threads and leaves its replies to other accounts (twitter-advanced-search reference). The full method is in [how to find replies by a specific user](/blog/twitter-search/replies-by-user/).

## How Do You Read One Side of a Twitter Conversation?

**To read one side of a conversation between two accounts, search `from:user1 to:user2`.** Reverse the handles to read the other side. This works for public replies only; direct messages are never in search.

## How Do You See Twitter Replies in Time Order?

**To see a thread’s replies in time order, search its `conversation_id:` and open the Latest tab, which lists matches newest first.** The reply list under a post is ordered by X, not by time. The in-app options are covered in [how to sort tweet replies by time](/blog/twitter-search/sort-replies-by-time/).

## Why Are Some Twitter Replies Missing?

**Some Twitter replies are missing from search because they come from private or suspended accounts, which X does not index, or because X has filtered them.** Replies from protected accounts appear only to their approved followers (twitter-advanced-search reference). Try the Top and Latest tabs, and add a keyword to reach replies deep in a long thread.

## How to Collect Every Reply to a Tweet With apidojo

**X shows replies on screen but has no export, so apidojo’s [Twitter Replies Scraper](https://apify.com/apidojo/twitter-replies-scraper) on Apify collects every reply to a post, by post ID or URL, with author data and engagement counts.** It exports to JSON, CSV or Excel and starts at $0.40 per 1,000 dataset items (Apify).

For a full thread search, [Twitter Scraper Unlimited](https://apify.com/apidojo/twitter-scraper-lite) runs the same `conversation_id:` query you type on X.

```
{
  "searchTerms": ["conversation_id:1728108619189874825"],
  "sort": "Latest"
}
```

A conversation query costs $0.016 and includes the first 2 pages, about 40 replies; each further reply costs $0.0004 on a batch of up to 5 queries (Apify). The developer workflow is [how to scrape a Twitter thread and all its replies](/blog/twitter-scraping/scrape-thread-replies/), part of the [apidojo Twitter Scraper](/scrapers/twitter-scraper/).

## The scrapers behind this

- [Twitter Scraper Unlimited Single tweets, reply threads, X Articles and small queries; no minimum $0.016 / query + $0.40 / 1K](/scrapers/twitter-scraper-lite/)
