**To search tweets that link to a website on X, type `url:` followed by the domain into the search bar, for example `url:github.com`, and open the Latest tab.** Add `-from:yourbrand` to see only links shared by other people. Replace any hyphen in the domain with an underscore: `url:t_mobile.com`.

The `url:` operator is the fastest way to see who shares your content, a competitor’s content or a news article. It sits with the word operators in the [Twitter advanced search operators](/blog/twitter-search/advanced-search-operators/) reference. This guide is one of the techniques in [how to search tweets by keyword](/blog/twitter-search/search-tweets-by-keyword/).

## How Do You Find Tweets Linking to a Site?

**You find tweets linking to a site by searching `url:` with the domain, with no space after the colon.** Listed below are the 3 steps.

1. **Type** `url:yourdomain.com`.
2. **Press** Enter.
3. **Open** **Latest** for every post linking to the domain, newest first.

`url:` matches the full address behind X’s shortened links, so posts appear even though X displays the link as a t.co short URL ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)).

## Domain Search Examples

**These domain searches cover the link-tracking jobs people run most often.** Replace the domains, handles and dates.

| Goal | Query |
| --- | --- |
| Every post linking to a site | url:example.com |
| Links shared by others only | url:example.com -from:examplebrand |
| Links to a hyphenated domain | url:t_mobile.com |
| Links to one page or section | url:example.com/blog |
| Popular posts linking to a site | url:example.com min_retweets:20 |
| Links to several sites | url:site1.com OR url:site2.com |
| Links in a date range | url:example.com since:2026-01-01 until:2026-02-01 |
| A competitor’s shared articles | url:competitor.com -from:competitor |
| Links without media | url:example.com -filter:media |

## How Do You Find Who Shared Your Article?

**To find who shared one article, search a distinctive part of its address with `url:`, such as the slug.** `url:example.com/blog/my-article-slug` narrows the results to that page. If the slug contains hyphens, use underscores in the query. Popular shares can be ranked with the thresholds in [how to search tweets by likes, reposts and replies](/blog/twitter-search/search-by-engagement/).

## How Do You Find Posts With Any Link?

**To find posts with any link rather than one domain, use `filter:links`; remove media with `-filter:media` to keep posts with a web link only.** `filter:links` also counts photos and videos as links, which is why the second filter helps (twitter-advanced-search reference). Media filters are covered in [how to search only tweets with images, videos or links](/blog/twitter-search/media-filters/).

## Why Does url: Return No Results?

**`url:` returns no results when the domain contains a hyphen typed as a hyphen, when there is a space after the colon, or when no one has shared the domain recently.** Rewrite hyphens as underscores, remove the space, and add `since:` with an earlier date to search further back.
