# How to Search Tweets by Cashtag ($TSLA, $BTC)

## How Do You Search a Cashtag on X?

**You search a cashtag by typing `$` and the ticker symbol, with no space, into the search bar.** Listed below are the 3 steps.

1.  **Type** the cashtag: `$NVDA`.
2.  **Press** Enter.
3.  **Choose** **Top** for widely engaged posts or **Latest** for every post in time order.

`$` marks a cashtag the way `#` marks a hashtag ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)). Searching the ticker without `$` matches the plain word, which for short tickers also catches unrelated posts.

**Filter cashtag spam by removing links, reposts and the words promoters use, and by adding an engagement floor.** `$BTC -filter:links -filter:retweets -airdrop -giveaway -"join now" min_faves:10` keeps original posts with some engagement. ## How Do You Compare Cashtag and Hashtag Searches?

**A cashtag (`$BTC`) is for a ticker and a hashtag (`#Bitcoin`) is for a topic, and people use both, so search them together with OR for full coverage.** `$BTC OR #Bitcoin` catches posts using either tag.
