# How to Find Old Tweets on X

To find old tweets on X, search a keyword with a date window, for example "world cup" since:2014-06-12 until:2014-07-14, then open the Latest tab.

**To find old tweets on X, search a keyword with a date window, for example `"world cup" since:2014-06-12 until:2014-07-14`, then open the Latest tab.** Add `from:username` to search one account. For your own old posts, the X archive lists every post you have made, starting with your first.

A bare keyword on X mostly shows recent posts, which is why old tweets seem to disappear. This guide covers the 4 methods that reach back to 2006, and what to do when a post still won’t show. ## How Far Back Can You Find Tweets on X?

**You can find tweets on X back to the first public post in 2006; X’s advanced search covers posts from any date since then.** The search needs you to be logged in to X.com ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/x-advanced-search)).

## Method 1: Find Old Tweets With Date Operators

**Date operators find old tweets fastest: type the keyword, then `since:` and `until:` around the period you remember.** Listed below are the 4 steps.

1.  **Log in** to x.com or the X app.
2.  **Type** the words you remember and a wide window: `"new phone" since:2012-01-01 until:2014-01-01`.
3.  **Open** the **Latest** tab.
4.  **Narrow** the window until the post appears.

`since:` includes its date and `until:` excludes it ([twitter-advanced-search reference](https://github.com/igorbrigadir/twitter-advanced-search)). Start wide, because a window that misses the post by one day returns nothing.

## Method 2: Find Old Tweets With the Advanced Search Form

**The Advanced search form finds old tweets without typing operators: fill in the words, the account and the From and To dates.** Run any search, click **Advanced search** under Search filters, complete the Words, People and Dates sections, and click **Search** ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/x-advanced-search)).

## Method 3: Find Someone’s Old Tweets

**To find someone’s old tweets, combine `from:username` with a keyword and a date window.** Everything @NASA posted about Pluto in 2015:

## Method 4: Find Your Own Old Tweets in Your X Archive

**Your X archive finds your own old tweets reliably, because it contains every post you have made rather than what search chooses to show.** The archive is a download of HTML and JSON files with your profile, posts, media, followers and more ([X Help Center](https://help.x.com/en/managing-your-account/accessing-your-x-data)). Listed below are the 5 steps on the web.

1.  **Click** **More** in the menu on the left of your timeline.
2.  **Select** **Settings and privacy**.
3.  **Choose** **Your account**.
4.  **Select** **Download an archive of your data**.
5.  **Confirm** your password and select **Request archive**. X emails you when the file is ready.
