# Why Can't I See Comments on TikTok? (Folded and Missing Comments) You can't see TikTok comments when the creator has turned off or filtered comments, TikTok has folded low-relevance comments, you're logged out, or the app needs an update. If your own comment seems to have vanished, it may be waiting in the creator’s filtered comments. This guide covers each cause, how to tell which applies, and the fix. All comment tasks are covered in the [TikTok comments guide](/blog/tiktok-comments/tiktok-comments-guide/). ## Why Are TikTok Comments Not Showing? **Comments go missing for 7 main reasons, and each one looks slightly different.** The table shows how to tell them apart. | Cause | What you see | Fix | | --- | --- | --- | | Comments turned off by the creator | No comment button, or a note that comments are off | Nothing to fix; it’s the creator’s choice | | Comments limited to certain people | You can read but not post | Follow the creator, if they allow followers | | Creator’s filters | Your own comment shows to you but not to others | It waits for the creator’s approval | | Folded comments | Some comments collapsed at the end of the section | Tap to expand them | | Logged out | Comments limited or hidden in the browser | Log in | | App problem | Comments don’t load at all | Update the app, clear the cache, restart | | A block | One person’s comments are missing | See how to know if someone blocked you on TikTok | ## What Are Folded Comments on TikTok? **Folded comments are comments TikTok has collapsed at the bottom of a comment section because its systems rank them as less relevant, spammy or low quality.** They aren’t deleted: scroll to the end and tap the option to show them. TikTok also collects private feedback from users who mark comments as irrelevant, which it uses alongside other signals to keep comment sections relevant ([TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2022/04/13/tiktok-is-testing-a-private-dislike-button-for-comments/)). ## Why Can’t Others See My Comment on TikTok? **Your comment can be visible to you but hidden from everyone else when the creator’s filters catch it, TikTok folds it, or it breaks a rule.** Creators’ keyword filters and the “filter unwanted comments” setting hold comments until the creator approves them ([TikTok Help Center](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?category=web_using_tiktok&id=7636676985892739605)). Rewording without the flagged word often gets through, but repeated attempts look like spam. ## Why Did TikTok Comments Disappear? **Comments disappear when the commenter deletes them, the creator removes them, TikTok removes them for breaking its Community Guidelines, or the commenter’s account is banned or deleted.** A whole comment section can vanish if the creator turns comments off after posting. ## Why Can’t I See Comments on TikTok LIVE? **LIVE comments disappear when the host turns them off, filters them, or limits who can comment, and they aren’t saved after the stream for viewers.** Hosts can manage LIVE comments from the LIVE settings; see [how to limit, filter and hide comments on TikTok](/blog/tiktok-comments/filter-hide-comments/). ## How Do You Fix TikTok Comments Not Loading? **If comments don’t load at all on any video, the problem is your app or connection.** Listed below are the 5 fixes, in order. 1. **Check** your connection, and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. 2. **Update** TikTok from your app store. 3. **Clear** the cache: Settings and privacy, then the storage option, then clear cache. 4. **Restart** the app and your phone. 5. **Log out** and back in. ## Can You See Comments Without an Account? **Comments are often limited or hidden for logged-out visitors on tiktok.com, so sign in to read them in full.** The logged-out limits are in [how to watch TikTok without the app or an account](/blog/tiktok-search/watch-without-app/). ## Questions people ask ### How do you see hidden comments on TikTok?
